Who it’s for

  • Baby showers where the guests come from different parts of the parents' lives
  • Office baby showers held over lunch
  • Co-ed showers and sprinkles for second babies
  • Hosts who want a mixer instead of a guessing game

How to play

  1. Give each player a card and a pen. Players write their name at the top.
  2. Players talk to each other. When someone fits a square, that person signs it. Nobody signs their own card.
  3. By default each person can sign a card once and the first full row, column, or diagonal wins. In the generator you can allow two signatures or switch to “most squares in a set time.”
  4. Plan on about 15–20 minutes for a 4×4 card. That’s a suggestion; adjust it to your group.

Tips for hosting

  • This is a mixer, not the gift-opening bingo where guests mark off presents. Play it early, while people are arriving and finding seats.
  • No prompt asks whether a guest has children, is expecting, or plans to; keep any prompts you add just as considerate.
  • Ask the parents-to-be to play too. Guests enjoy collecting their signatures.
  • Collect finished cards in a basket; many hosts give them to the parents as a keepsake of who came.

Questions

Is this the baby shower bingo where you mark off gifts?

No. In this version guests find other guests who match each square. It's meant to help people talk, and it works before gifts are opened.

Does it work for an office baby shower?

Yes. Pick a 3×3 grid for a short lunch, and use "Most squares in a set time" so it ends on schedule.
